Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty aims to remove excess skin, bags, and wrinkles in the eyelid area, providing a rejuvenated appearance in the area surrounding the eyes.

Who is it recommended for?

It is recommended for people over 35 years of age. However, the presence of bags or early skin laxity resulting from genetic aspects may anticipate the procedure in younger patients

Did you know…? The eyelid is the part of the face that first undergoes aging. For this reason, signs of aging begin to appear in this area surrounding the eyes.

How is the procedure performed?

Blepharoplasty is performed in the hospital, has an average duration of 2 hours and the patient is expected to be discharged on the same day.  Anesthesia is preferably local with sedation, but may also be general. The decision is at the discretion of the anesthesiologist and each patient.

The procedure can be performed on the upper or lower eyelid or both, depending on each case. This procedure removes excess skin and bags of fat in order to reposition the muscle.

What should I expect during my blepharoplasty recovery?

Blepharoplasty scars on the upper eyelid are usually thin and should therefore be located on the crease and lower eyelid, just below the lashes.

→ Wearing sunglasses promotes comfort during recovery.

→ Avoid physical exertion.

→ Avoid sun exposure.

→ Edema in the eyelids will begin to recede after 1 week and will stabilize between 3 and 6 months.
