Breast: Partial breast reconstruction surgery

Partial Breast Reconstruction Surgery involves the repair of a breast segment using surgical techniques similar to those applied in cosmetic mammoplasty. The goal is to maintain the conical shape with the areola positioned at the apex. In many cases, the symmetrization of the opposite side is possible, to achieve the right proportion and balance.

Who is it recommended for?

It is recommended for women who have undergone partial removal of breast tissue, and who wish to restore the shape and rebalance the appearance of one or both breasts.

How is the procedure performed?

It depends on the breast size, the location of the area to be reconstructed, and the amount of tissue removed in surgical oncology treatment (in cases of breast cancer). Partial reconstruction may involve the use of:

  • Remains of tissue from the breast itself.

  • Back tissue (Latissimus Dorsi Mycoutaneous LD flap).

  • Abdominal tissue (Pedicled Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous (TRAM).

What should I expect during my partial breast reconstruction surgery recovery?

A 2-day hospital inpatient stay is required before discharge.

→ During the first 30 days, dressing and compression bandages will be changed in the clinic.

→ Physical activities such as driving and practicing sports are prohibited for 4 weeks. (gradual permissions)

→ Avoid sun exposure for 3 months.

→ The definitive shape and volume will appear from 3 to 6 months after surgery.
