Cosmetic ear surgery (Otoplasty)

Cosmetic ear surgery (otoplasty) consists of changing the shape, position, or size of the ears, while reshaping the outer ear's cartilaginous folds.

Who is it recommended for?

It is recommended for individuals who wish to correct their prominent ears. A suitable time to have an otoplasty is when a child is 7 years old. At this age, the ears' growth is complete.

How is the procedure performed?

It is performed under sedation and local or general anesthetic, according to the choice of the anesthesiologist after patient evaluation. The procedure will take approximately 2 hours and patients can be discharged on the same day. The incision will leave a thin scar (3 to 4 centimeters) and practically imperceptible, as they are located behind the ears.

How is the recovery process?

Patients are required to use a hat-like bandage for 1 or 2 days to protect the ears from trauma and keep the cartilage in place.

→ 10 days after the initial dressing, the stitches are removed.

→ Wearing bandanas for up to 1 month after surgery is recommended, especially when lying down.
