Nose
Rhinoplasty aims to achieve facial harmony, as it improves its appearance and proportion. The procedure may also correct certain respiratory issues.
Who is it recommended for?
This procedure should be performed in patients over 18 years of age. At this stage, facial growth is already complete.
How is the procedure performed?
Surgery is performed through the nostrils and external scarring may occur around the nose area called the “columella”. There is a wide variety of individual factors and, consequently, in surgical procedures:
Reduce the size of the nose
Narrow nasal width
Reduce or increase the nasal dorsum, thereby changing the patient's profile
Project and define the nasal tip
Reduce the alar nostril sill
Correct asymmetries and deviations
This surgery lasts approximately 2 hours, the anesthesia is general and, in specific cases, local anesthesia is applied with sedation. The dressing consists of a custom-moldable splint attached to the nasal contour for immobilizing the structures during the first 7 days, thus reducing edema and providing the necessary time for tissue healing.
After this time, the splint is removed and medical adhesive tape is used to control swelling and stabilize the shape of the nose.
What should I expect during my rhinoplasty recovery?
A 1-day hospital inpatient stay is required.
→ In many cases, the patient is discharged on the same day.
→ During the first 30 days, dressing and compression bandages will be changed in the clinic each week.
→ Physical activities such as driving and practicing sports are prohibited for 4 weeks. (Gradual permissions)
→ Avoid sun exposure for 3 months.
